I never realized that the same books that I read to my students in the first grade for inspiration could be the same books you can read to middle or even high school students. This goes to show you that our students experience the same feelings/thoughts at any age. Great demonstration! It was an eye opening experience for me. It was a great presentation, immediately putting my brain into "teacher" mode on how to utilize some of her ideas in my own classroom. She always provides a refreshing reminder that almost every strategy we discuss in the Summer Institute can be adapted to every student audience. I am considering ways to adapt the "I Am from . . . " prompt for my English 101 class in the fall. I am also amazed that she has as many children's and adolescent books as she has ideas for using them. I agree, Cherity.
